The future of enterprise social networks: Powering business beyond social collaboration

Time: 10.15 - 11.00, Thursday November 5

Speaker: Joachim Heinz (Germany), Bosch
Track: Collaboration & Community Management

In times of a volatile and uncertain business environment, companies strive for more innovation, better leverage of existing knowledge and faster exchange of information. In order to do so, enterprise social networks (ESN) seem to be a possible solution by laying groundwork inside companies that allows the workforce to socially connect and exchange information in a modern and efficient way.

Through the last 5-10 years, many well-done implementations but also a lot of negative examples could be observed. In both cases – positive and negative, most implementations of the ESN focused on communication and in some rare cases, also collaboration. Besides that, there was always the pressuring question of the ROI – the feared question of every ESN project manager, because implementing an ESN is for sure not for less and the answer of the ROI is a difficult task.

As the maturity of many ESN is raising, more and more value-adding use cases emerge that help to solve the ROI question. In some advanced setups, there are first young use-cases coming up that show possible business use-cases beyond communication and collaboration – it is the dawn of organizational and manufacturing cases related to ESN, boosting the ROI in a different perspective.

In this presentation you will learn about the ESN setup of Bosch, a series of selected use cases and a glimpse towards the future of enterprise social networks: Powering business beyond social collaboration.
