Digital strategy: do you really need one and what should it look like?

Time: 10.15 - 11.00, Thursday November 5

Speaker: Tracy Green (UK), Parliament
Track: Leadership & Strategy

What opportunities does digital technology offer Parliament? How can it improve the way Parliament works and better support the work of Parliamentarians as part of our democracy? What kind of things need to change to enable that to happen? These are just some of the questions I’ve been asking staff, members and users to develop a new digital vision and strategy for Parliament. In my talk I’ll cover the approach I’m taking to do that, working in a more agile and open way, highlight some of the key themes that have started to emerge and offer a vision for the future that could make a real difference. In an organisation like Parliament digital transformation challenges some of the long standing and established culture and process but the potential enhance our democracy is huge.

Take aways

- Digital strategy is about how you change your organisation to work in a digital world
- In 10 years time, if an organisation has successfully made that change they should not have a digital strategy
- Strategy should be a real, living, evolving thing – not a document that sits on a shelf.
